DAILY GEOMETRY

2018

Research Project: Structural Crafts

Location: Cambridge, UK

"Daily Geometry" reimagines "Islamic geometry" in Middle Eastern architecture, exploring its potential as a structural rather than purely ornamental element. The project investigates how patterns like 6-fold grids or 7-fold stars can function as structural components, such as concrete-wood joints or vaults. By connecting structural engineering, design, and art, it seeks to reinterpret these historical forms as innovative and functional, moving beyond their traditional sacred or decorative associations.
