EARTH SCHOOL IN AL AZRAQ

Participants: 12 Students

In this workshop, 12 participants from Jordan and Syria were trained in traditional tile vaulting techniques to construct domes and vaults for a school serving Syrian refugees in Jordan. The project utilized local materials, including site soil and pumice stone, and emphasized participatory approaches. Training was conducted in collaboration with Spanish master builders, who leda two-week program in Azraq. The program featured planning and making barrel vaults for jack-arch systems and a dome, the course also developedskills in sustainable and context-sensitive construction methods.
