In this workshop, students designed woven structures from natural plants fiber as extended wearable skins. The workshop covered topics related to structural engineering, traditional weaving crafts, performance, and liberal arts. Students learned about bending-active structures through a series of lectures, hands-on exercises, and digital software tools. Following that, students collaborated with master weaver Carlos Fontanels to create 1:1 scale prototypes of woven structures intended to function as individual and collective shelters. The workshop culminated in an exhibition-performance of the designs.
